I've been watching this for quite some time, and it's certainly a fascinating time to be living. The only problem is that big companies are like big animals -- when their life is threatened, they lash out and cause a lot of destruction. You can bet that the publishing companies aren't going to go easy, and they'll certainly try to hamper the new technology growth if they see it as a threat. That's part of why copyright and everything exist -- to keep the big companies on top (not that copyright's an inherently bad thing, but it can certainly be abused).

I'm hoping that one day, creative industries like music, film, and writing will be run by the artists themselves, like the fashion industry (a notably copyright-free industry), and any 'publishing' companies will exist more to provide services for writers rather than being the big money-makers themselves.

Oh, and great blog by the way. I'd like to see more comments though; it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thinks...
