Brain alterations

Postby sgbfishman » Fri Jun 04, 2010 10:17 pm

With the use of various scanning devices to determine which parts of the human brain are involved in any particular kind of function or thought, many possibilities that are offered in science fiction stories now seem to be nearly realisable. (did I spell that right?) There is no topic for physiological psychology in the science innovations section of this forum, so I'm bringing it up here.....and anyway, direct alteration of a person's brain might be considered a technological development. I'm thinking of split brain, memory retrievals, "multiple personality," the use of brain implants to activate machinery, etc. I know that this last idea is presently being developed for the benefit of physically disabled people....many other possiblities come to mind (no pun intended).
